Welcome to MAPS McGill!

MAPS McGill is a new program that began as a pilot project led by Alexander Bailey (IPN), Isabela Lara Uquillas (IPN), and Vittoria Trolio (GASP) at McGill University in 2021 as a chapter of the MAPS project at Concordia University, developed by Eloïse Fairbank (please see: https://mapscommittee.weebly.com), but has since blossomed into an important aspect of GSAN.

Our mission is to build mentoring opportunities and connections between neuroscience and psychology undergraduates at McGill University and graduate students at the IPN who seek leadership experience. Through MAPS McGill, we provide free and accessible professional development workshops, networking opportunities, tips and tricks about applying to graduate school, a platform to have special discussions with guest speakers on topics like “Neuroscience and the Arts”, “Neuroscience and Podcasting”, “Neuroscience and Faith”, and an inter-branch space for GSAN to support holistic wellness (i.e., mental, sexual, and emotional health, and EDI). We also seek to support student interests in music and the arts through our Wellness Café events.

We believe that one of the best ways to help research to thrive is to foster a warm and inclusive community of thinkers who are curious about the world around us and work to support each other.

MAPS seeks to help guide students who are interested in graduate studies and those who may be unsure about their interests or potential alike.

MAPS McGill is a highly collaborative initiative that works hand-in-hand with colleagues from MAPS Concordia, the Neuroscience Undergraduates of McGill, PGSS, and Queer McGill. We seek to ensure that our undergraduate mentees and graduate student members build research connections and together create a space to learn about the incredible work being done in neuroscience and psychology across Montreal.
